Milk, fruit, starch, and bread most affect blood glucose. Here is the list of other foods diabetics should avoid:
- Refined carbohydrates: White bread, white rice, pastries, and other refined grain products are quickly absorbed, raising blood sugar rapidly.
- Ultra‑processed foods: Red and processed meat, fried foods, and refined sugar are linked with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes.
- Saturated Fat: Avoid high-fat dairy like butter, cream, cheese and red meat. Also, look for unsaturated oils while cooking.
- Excessive added sugar: Cakes, candies, sweet treats, and beverages can cause significant spikes in blood sugar when consumed regularly. Higher intake of sugar leads to weight gain.
It’s harder to maintain stable glucose levels while eating these foods. Switching to a balanced diet that includes whole grains, vegetables, lean proteins, legumes, and healthy fats supports better metabolic control.
