Filgrastim or Granulocyte Colony Stimulating Factor (GCSF) is a naturally occurring growth factor that stimulates the proliferation of neutrophils or white blood cells. This protein is expressed by peripheral blood mononuclear cells as well as monocytes. Recombinant GCSF is administered to patients with certain kinds of cancer to accelerate recovery from neutropenia after chemotherapy.

Status:

  • Pre-clinical toxicity studies as per EMEA Biosimilar Guidelines for Filgrastim have been completed using Neupogen® of Amgen as the Reference product

Indications:

Neutropenia associated with:
  • Myelosuppressive chemotherapy
  • Acute myeloid leukemia, in patients receiving induction or consolidation chemotherapy
  • Bone marrow transplant
  • Peripheral blood progenitor cell collection and therapy
  • Patients with severe chronic neutropenia
