INDICATIONS &
DOSAGE
1. Secondary Prevention of stroke
Dose :- Usual oral dosage for adults 75mg-325mg daily.
2. Secondary Prevention of MI
Dose :- 75-325mg daily
3. Primary Prevention of MI
Dose: 75mg daily.
4. To prevent reocclusion in adults undergoing coronary revascularization
procedures, the usual initial dose for coronary artery bypass grafts
is 325mg initiated 6hrs after surgery and continued for 1 year or
indefinitely at this dosage daily in patients with an underlying
condition (eg CHD) warranting continued prophylaxis.
5 In adults undergoing coronary angioplasty to reduce early ischemic
complications. Usual oral dosage 80-325mg initiated atleast 2hrs
before the procedure. Long term aspirin treatment continued indefinitely
at a dosage of 160-325mg daily is recommended for secondary prevention
against cardiovascular events.
6. For adults undergoing stent implantation , aspirin should be
administered 2hrs prior to stent placement and continued indefinitely
at a dosage of 160-325mg daily.
7. To prevent subequent TIA's and stroke in adults undergoing carotid
endartectomy the usual oral dosage of aspirin ranges from 80mg daily
to 650mg twice daily initiated pre-operatively and continued indefinitely.
8. To reduce the risk of pre-eclampsia & IUGR in high risk women.
Dosage & Administration :- Treatment to start early in the second
trimester, doses less than 80mg/day to be used. Consider stopping
therapy 1-2weeks before delivery. Aspirin to be taken at bedtime
and to increase the dose if the risk is very high.
9. Diabetics Dose: 75mg.
